Long Island, Interior by Dalton Rooney

Issue 13

I have been taking pictures of the Long Island landscape for several years now. Recently I’ve begun to make my way east, slowly working from top to bottom in a zig-zag across across the island. I plan to continue this process for quite a while, returning to many of the same places again and again to record the changes in the landscape over time.

The topography of Long Island changes rapidly as you travel across it, and there are many pockets of wilderness to discover. These photographs were taken in various inland parks, mostly along the Connetquot and Nissequogue rivers.
