Ophelia by Chrissie Dalziel

Issue 148

I thought myself as Ophelia on her last walk to the water.
Sanity hinged on the haphazard violence of her men.
Left to her own devices and inescapable grief.
Her last earthly visions.
She lies on the surface waiting for the rich tapestry of her dress
to soak and weigh her under.

This work was made in Marylebone, Wick Wood, and Bow Back Rivers, London. Late 2019-2021
An essay with no fixed edge, crossing themes and devices evident across my work.

Chrissie Dalziel lives and works in London, England
